Boston Dynamics Spot vs Unitree Go2 EDU

Compare the base platform and development access before planning a research or inspection workflow. Payload and runtime are manufacturer claims under different conditions, not a common benchmark.

Comparison limit: Different runtime claims, different payload definitions, and battery capacity expressed in different units prevent a single performance ranking.

Boston Dynamics

Boston Dynamics Spot

A mobile platform with a published payload interface for sensing and inspection integrations.

Confirm before specifying

  • Regional delivered price and software/service bundle
  • Runtime with a specific payload and duty cycle
  • Exact hardware revision supplied

Configuration & evidence notes

  • Use these current product-page specifications; older official PDFs list different mass and battery figures.
  • A published terrain or payload limit is not proof that an intended site or task is suitable.

Unitree Robotics

Unitree Go2 EDU

The development-oriented Go2 configuration; distinguish it from Air, Pro and X quotes.

Confirm before specifying

  • An IP rating in the checked source
  • Delivered regional price and exact compute-module bundle
  • Runtime under a shared test protocol with Spot

Configuration & evidence notes

  • The official table has separate Air, Pro, X and EDU columns. Do not attribute EDU battery or development access to another version.
  • mAh and Wh are not directly comparable capacity measures without voltage and configuration context.

Start with the deployment, not the top speed.

Spot publishes an IP54 rating and a 14 kg maximum payload. Go2 EDU is a lighter, development-oriented configuration. Neither runtime figure predicts a shared route with a shared payload; both need a demonstration of the intended workflow.

Questions for the supplier

  1. Which sensors and compute modules are included in the exact quoted configuration?
  2. Can the supplier demonstrate your terrain, payload and software workflow?
  3. What is the local support route and documented development access?

How to use this pair

  • Specify terrain, weather and the payload before choosing a platform.
  • Confirm SDK access, compute modules, support and recovery procedures in the quote.
  • Compare Wh only when voltage and the exact battery configuration are established.
